Marianne Van Meter, M.B.A., Managing Director, founded Legacy Capital in 1994, and is actively involved in providing financial advisory services to corporate clients in various industries and in representing buyers and sellers. Prior to founding Legacy, Marianne was Vice President with A.G. Edwards & Sons, Inc. from 1986 through 1993. Marianne developed and executed numerous mergers, acquisitions and corporate underwritings, and developed and managed the firm’s practice in hostile takeover prevention and defense. In 1988, she established A.G. Edwards’ New Orleans Corporate Finance office where she continued to execute selected merger and acquisition assignments nationwide while developing business in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. From 1984 until 1986, Marianne was an Associate in mergers and acquisitions with Morgan Stanley & Co., Incorporated in New York, New York. She is a Registered Representative and a Registered Principal with FINRA and a Candidate Member of the American Society of Appraisers. Ms. Van Meter has presented lectures on the buying and selling of closely-held businesses on behalf of Millsaps College and the Cambridge Institute. She is an Entrepreneur in Residence for Tulane University’s Albert Lepage Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (https://freeman.tulane.edu/lepage) and is also on the Board of Directors for The Idea Village (http://ideavillage.org/).
Marianne graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Iowa in 1981, earning a B.S. with Honors in Economics. She received Mortar Board, Omicron Delta Kappa and Omicron Delta Epsilon honors. She earned her M.B.A. from the Colgate Darden Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Virginia in 1984.
Charles D. (“Chip”) Porter, J.D., Managing Director, has been co-owner of Legacy Capital since 1998 where he has represented numerous clients in various industries in successful mergers and acquisitions. Prior to joining Legacy, Chip was a Partner with the law firm of Phelps Dunbar, LLP, one of the largest firms in the Southeast, where his practice focused on business transactions, mergers and acquisitions. While at Phelps Dunbar, he served on numerous transactions as a lead attorney on behalf of clients of Legacy Capital. Chip was with Phelps Dunbar for eleven years, was Partner for five years, and was a member of the firm’s management committee. From 1979 to 1981, he worked for Ernst & Whinney in Phoenix, Arizona and was a licensed C.P.A. He is a Registered Representative and a Registered Principal with FINRA. Chip has presented several lectures on companies for continuing legal education seminars on behalf of Professional Education Systems, Inc.
Chip received his B.S. in Accounting with honors from Northern Arizona University in 1979. He obtained his law degree with honors from Mississippi College School of Law in 1985 where he was an Associate Editor of the Mississippi College Law Review.
Mitch McGrane, Vice President, joined Legacy in 2006 and has managed the deal execution for numerous transactions for clients in a variety of industries. Prior to joining Legacy, he was an analyst for Jefferson Capital Partners, L.P., a New Orleans-based private equity fund specializing in providing mezzanine financing for middle market companies. During his time with Jefferson (2005 to 2006) he evaluated and participated in numerous investments in a wide range of industries. From 2001 to 2004, Mitch was a senior associate at J Folz & Associates, LLC, a Healthcare management-consulting firm based out of Memphis, TN. His career began at BDO Seidman, LP (1999 to 2001) where he was an associate in the Healthcare Business Advisory Services Group. He is a Registered Representative with FINRA.
Mitch graduated from Loyola University New Orleans in 1999, earning a B.B.A. with a double major in Finance and Marketing. He earned his M.B.A. in Finance and Management from the A.B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University in 2006.
Jesse Liebe, J.D., CFA, Associate, joined Legacy Capital in 2018 from TMI Hospitality, a Fargo, ND based company owning and operating more than 200 hotels nationwide. During his time at TMI Hospitality, Jesse was both a Financial Analyst (2012 – 2016) and Treasury Manager (2016 – 2018). During this time, Jesse analyzed and aided in the sale process of the organization’s ESOP and also passed Levels I, II, and III of the Chartered Financial Analyst exam. He began his career with Otter Tail Corporation, a diversified public utility, in 2009 as a Corporate Development Intern, and joined Otter Tail full time post-graduation as an Internal Auditor (2010-2012) to provide consulting and compliance services to portfolio companies. Jesse is a licensed member of the North Dakota bar, a Registered Representative with FINRA and an active CFA® Charterholder.
Jesse graduated with a B.S. from Wheaton College in 2010, with a double major in Business Economics and Mathematics. He received his law degree from the University of North Dakota in 2016, where he was inducted into the Order of the Coif and an Associate Editor of the North Dakota Law Review.
Alex Autin, Analyst, joined Legacy Capital in 2017 after graduating from Tulane University, earning a B.S. in Management with a Major in Finance and Minor in Legal Studies, with an Energy Specialization. He is currently studying to become a Chartered Financial Analyst with the CFA Institute. He is a Registered Representative with FINRA.
